NHS is deliberately being undermined
I HAVE always been a 100% supporter of the NHS but now, due to me becoming ill while driving home from Cornwall, I applaud it even more.
I was on the dual carriageway heading towards Exeter. I reached a point where I could not continue to drive. This was a very dangerous situation over which I had no control. The traffic was very heavy.
Someone, and unfortunately I don’t know who, was sharp enough to call the police to say that a car was stopped and needed assistance. Within five minutes they arrived, took control, and took my wife and myself with the car to a nearby medical facility.
That facility transferred me to Derriford hospital. The care and attention given to me was outstanding. I was constantly monitored. I had a number of tests, including an MRI. At the end of all this, they informed me that my condition was potentially lifethreatening.
We take the NHS for granted, and I believe it is being deliberately undermined. This is obvious by the way all the medical staff are treated. Long hours, poor pay, and having to make life-saving decisions.
Politicians talk a lot but that is all they do. The medical profession keeps the nation healthy. A healthy nation can then bring prosperity that helps achieve a good living for us all.
Unfortunately, I am now looking to add to the NHS workload. Derriford, thank you again. You were marvellous. My thanks also to the police officers, who were very efficient, so avoiding a dangerous situation turning into a major road accident with all the consequences that could have occurred.
