West man charged after M25 protests

-

A YEOVIL man has been charged following the disruption on the M25 on November 7 as protesters blocked the motorway.

Christopher White, of Summerhouse View, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The 29-year-old was charged with conspiracy to cause a public nuisance following attempts to cause disruption on the M25. It comes after a joint operation between the Metropolitan Police, Essex Police, Surrey Police and other neighbouring forces.

Extinction Rebellion co-founder Roger Hallam, 56, of Macleod Street, Walworth, has been remanded in custody for almost a month accused of plotting to cause chaos on the M25.

Tim Hewes, 72, of New Road, Wantage, and Daniel Shaw, 36, of Adam’s Avenue, Northampton, also appeared in court on the same charge.

District Judge Nina Tempia sent their cases to be dealt with at Southwark Crown Court on December 6.

Hallam, Shaw and Hewes were remanded in custody until that hearing.
