Is Cop27 really a moment of truth?

-

REFERRING to Jill Natusch’s letter entitled: ‘Cop27 is a moment of truth for us all’ (November 9th).

I feel Ms Natusch is being a little green and naïve if she really believes Cop27 is a moment of truth!

Not according to Greta – she’s definitely not wasting time going (a bit like our Prime Minister’s initial reaction).

She maintains there is “limited space for civic society”? Not entirely sure what was meant by this? Perhaps she means that there is not enough room for hooligans, law breakers or throwing chocolate cake over those with opposing views?

She then states “the conference was used by leaders and people of power to attract attention by greenwashing consumers into believing that their products are environmentally friendly”.

For once I entirely agree with her. Has she finally realized the greenwashing of the great green revolution?

The slave and child labour used in Third World countries to produce the clean energy that the Green Party, Extinction Rebellion, Just Stop Oil, etc, want to cover our land and oceans in?

Perhaps someone has explained about the massacre of our birds across the world to make the energy multi-nationals huge profits from these bird killing machines. Or has the penny finally dropped that the indisputable facts are that for decades these turbines have been buried in the ground?

Or, even more likely – the climate activists might have realized that they possibly won’t be handled with kid gloves in Egypt as they are in this country.

My moment of truth will possibly come after I’ve passed into eternity and all those planet saving wind turbines have been left rusting and rotting away on land and in our oceans – too difficult and far too unprofitable to take down and bury in landfill!
