More time granted to question suspect in murder investigation
DETECTIVES investigating a murder in a Gloucestershire town have been given more time to question a man arrested in connection with the incident.
The extra custody time comes after the body of a woman was found in a flat in Stroud.
Officers from Gloucestershire Constabulary were called to an address in Chapel Street after concerns were raised by a neighbour at around 4.15pm on November 4.
The body is believed to have lay undiscovered for some time.
Detectives are still waiting for confirmation of the identity of the victim. The death was initially treated as being unexplained, but the results of a post-mortem examination led to a murder investigation being opened.
One man, from Stroud, was arrested on Thursday night on suspicion of murder while two more people, a man and woman, also from Stroud, were arrested on Friday.
A warrant of further detention for a man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been granted. An additional 36 hours of detention for the man, from Stroud, were authorised by Cheltenham magistrates on Saturday and were due to expire last night.
The second man and the woman have been released without charge and face no further action.
