Man in hospital following assault

A MAN was taken to hospital after being assaulted by two men in a Gloucester­shire market town on Friday night.

The police were called to Cricklade Street, Cirenceste­r, by South West Ambulance Service at around 11.30pm.

The assault took place near Waterstone­s, and a police cordon was erected in the centre of the town. The cordon was removed on Saturday afternoon.

Gloucester­shire Constabula­ry has confirmed that no arrests have been made following the incident. Investigat­ions are ongoing.

The force said in a statement: “Members of the public assisted and emergency services attended.

“The victim, a man aged in his 50s, was taken to Swindon hospital and his injuries are not believed to be serious.”
