Tributes for former council chairman
TRIBUTES have been paid to former Gloucestershire County Council chairman Mike Skinner.
A minute’s silence was held at Shire Hall in memory of the former Liberal Democrat councillor from Cheltenham at the council meeting last week.
Cllr Colin Hay (LD, All Saints and Oakley) led the tributes.
“Mike, himself, was someone I would call a real gent,” he said.
“He was a gentle and nice guy. However, when he needed to he spoke his mind – he was no pushover.
“I think that is a really nice balance.”
Labour councillor Graham Morgan (L, Cinderford), who also served with Mike, said it was very sad to hear of his death.
“He was a gentle giant. You couldn’t wish to be with a better guy so it’s a sad loss.”
