Bigoted views of Qatari politician

-

A QATARI politician declared that homosexuals had a damaged brain, which only means that they do not share his personal opinions.

That is not very important, since no sensible person should consider that just his own opinion could be an avenue to wisdom. Reliable wisdom requires proof, established slowly by diligent scholars over centuries, from ignorance, blossoming eventually into definite knowledge.

When I grew up in Britain homosexuality was illegal, and many British citizens shared that foolish prejudice because they automatically conformed to the past. However, I was fortunate enough to meet several people better than myself, who happened to be homosexual, so that saved me from gross stupidity, in my ‘undamaged’ brain.

In some of the islands of the

Pacific in the 19th century, many tribes practiced cannibalism, based on the theory that, when I ate your roasted flesh, the virtues from your savoury body, such as courage, had now entered into my life, with excellent consequences all round. However, the certainty of this theory slowly faded, when proof of this theory failed to materialise.

I am sure that the Qatari politician will see how easy it was for him to get the wrong end of the stick, just from listening to very bigoted older people, who should be excused their folly with sympathy, since it is easier for us, with all the help we have had from admirable people.
