Why did our soldiers sacrifice themselves?

WATCHING with pride the Armistice day parade at the Cenotaph filled me and I dare say the majority of the nation with great emotion.

And I ask myself once again what the hell did all the dead and maimed of our Armed Forces really sacrifice themselves for, when I see the anarchy and lawlessness being carried out by the likes of infantile, ignorant, self-indulgent protesters from Just Stop Oil and Extinction Rebellion, encouraged and protected by a police force leadership which should be instead putting the wellbeing and deserved protection of those whose forefathers suffered so much to prevent this sort of wanton destruction of our civilised way of life and freedoms.

We all deserve better! We should all support the bobby on the beat

(if we can find one), but those in charge, as well as the idiots who appointed them in the first place, are the real culprits for the filtered down rot which is ruining our otherwise civilised society.

When will they ever learn? Hopefully it will be in my lifetime, but how long will I have to hold my breath? Perhaps 999 should be renumbered 666, as it’s a devil of a job getting a policeman out to your own house burglary, but they appear from nowhere if you’re double parked.
