Jealousy: the politics of envy is very sad

-

I KEEP reading letters saying that the Conservatives’ monetary policies are wrong and we need a new government.

If, like me, you were in receipt of 80% of your wages when the Covid pandemic was happening and now you are receiving help with your utility bills; and if you get universal credit and/or unemployment benefit, and cheap local housing, you need to think about what you are moaning about.

The politics of envy is very sad. We all make our own way in life. Some make millions of pounds and some unfortunately live on the streets – we are all different – but jealousy of the wealthy is bad.

There are more people better off now than in history, and I hope it carries on, but only the insane can have thought that this support money is free! It has to be paid back, and that’s right.

With the explosion of available jobs and it being a workers’ market, you should not worry about claiming benefit because jobs are available. If you are still hurt by the facts, you could give back the support you received as a way of protest.
