Breast cancer study looks at survival risk
ONE of the longest-ever follow up studies of breast cancer patients has found that radiotherapy does not appear to improve survival after 30 years.
The University of Edinburgh study found radiotherapy with either chemotherapy or the hormone drug tamoxifen after surgery does reduce the risk of the disease returning in the first 10 years but makes little difference to risks thereafter. The study was presented at the European Breast Cancer Conference in Spain.
