How can we justify killing game birds?

IT really saddened but didn’t surprise me to read the recent article ‘Game shooting blamed for bird of prey deaths’. After reading it, I ask the question, why can mankind shoot or poison a bird of prey just to satiate the desire to kill game birds? Nearly every article written about game shooting tries to justify it by saying how wildlife benefits from this ‘sport’, that’s only as long as wildlife doesn’t interfere with the revenue made from these shoots. Any conservation benefit associated with shoots is purely an accidental by-product.
