Ronaldo’s United exit confirmed
PORTUGAL star Cristiano Ronaldo will leave Manchester United with immediate effect.
United issued a statement last night announcing they had reached a mutual agreement with the player to terminate his contract.
The development comes a week after Ronaldo unsettled the club in an outspoken TV interview.
The statement read: “The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, and wishes him and his family well for the future.”
The Portuguese, 37, issued his own statement, which read: “We have mutually agreed to end our contract early. I love Manchester United and I love the fans. That will never ever change. However, it feels like the right time for me to seek a new challenge.”
■ Forest Green have signed midfielder Dylan McGeouch. The ex-Celtic, Hibs and Sunderland man, 29, has been a free agent since leaving Aberdeen in the summer.
