No trains for Christmas Market

-

STRIKE action by train drivers’ union Aslef means there will be no trains serving Bath on Saturday for the opening weekend of the city’s Christmas Market.

In addition there will be no trains into or out of Cardiff for Wales’ Autumn International against Australia.

Where trains are operating, they will be starting later and finishing earlier, and disruption to normal services are expected to continue into Sunday, said GWR.

Christmas market organisers expect roads in the city to be extra busy on the day, so advise people coming by car to use one of the three park-and-ride sites. They said city centre car parks will be very busy and will fill up quickly.

Customers travelling to the market by train on Sunday are warned that a queuing system will be in place for return journeys, with queues of over an hour expected at times.

Fans travelling to Twickenham for England’s game against South Africa, which kicks off at 5.30pm, are told that no GWR services are scheduled to run after the match.

South Western Railway is unaffected and will operate its normal services between Reading and Twickenham.
