FORMER rugby star Mike Tindall became the eighth contestant to be eliminated from I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! .

The former England Bath and Gloucester player, 44, missed out on a place in yesterday’s finale to the former health secretary Matt Hancock, Jill Scott and Owen Warner.

After leaving the celebrity camp, Tindall was greeted by his wife, the Princess Royal’s daughter Zara Tindall.

He told hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly: “I’m pretty comfortable with it. It’s been an amazing journey. I think we’ve been very lucky with everyone that’s been in there and how the camp has worked together.

“Being in a team for a long period of my life, I didn’t expect it to work as well as it did.”

A number of high-profile celebrities showed their support for Tindall after his eviction.

Gloucestershire’s Dom Joly welcomed Mike Tindall ‘to the club’. The comedian was referencing his own eviction from the ITV show in 2010 when he came fourth.

The Trigger Happy TV comic tweeted: “Fourth place is the cool Gloucestershire place...welcome to club Mike...”, last night after Zara’s husband was reunited with her on the famous Australian bridge.

Cirencester-based DIY SOS star Nick Knowles also showed his support for Mike, saying: “Sad to see @miketindall13 exiting the Jungle but he’s done himself and his family proud - he’s proved to everyone what all of us that know him already knew. He’s a top lad with a good heart and great company.”

And none other than royalty herself, Princess Beatrice of York, showed her support for her cousin’s husband. The King’s niece tweeted: “He is just the greatest @miketindall13” after his eviction.
