So important to keep oneself well informed
I WAS very surprised to read in his recent letter that Lord Clifford encourages all readers of this newspaper to send a copy of Dr Bratby’s letter (November 16th), which was completely flawed and at variance with all expert climate scientists in its points about greenhouse gases, absorption of infrared radiation by carbon dioxide and statements from the IPCC on extreme events, to their MP.
Dr Bratby’s background is in nuclear physics and his views about atmospheric physics and climate sadly appear to be informed by nonscientific websites, such as ‘Not a lot of people know that’ to which he is a contributor, rather than by genuine scientific publications, including those of the Royal Society of London.
I would have hoped that a peer of the realm, and former member of the House of Lords, would have been rather better informed?
