Two are rescued from plane crash

TWO people with “serious injuries” have been rescued from a small aircraft in the United States state of Maryland, several hours after it crashed into electricit­y power lines.

The pair were taken to hospital after the incident in the town of Gaithersbu­rg, which caused widespread power outages in the surroundin­g area.

Maryland State Police said the pilot and the passenger, who are both in their sixties, were rescued from the plane that was stuck about 100ft above the ground.
