Train cleaners to hold series of strikes
WORKERS who clean trains and railway stations are to stage a series of strikes in a dispute over pay. Around 1,000 members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) at several private contractors will walk out on December 22, 23 and 31. It will be the biggest ever strike by rail cleaners. Cleaners are demanding £15 an hour, company sick pay, decent holidays and good pensions from contractors. The RMT said GWR would be among the companies affected.
