Speakers will tackle water emergency

-

LIKE many of your readers I read Surfers Against Sewage’s 2022 Water Quality Report with anger and despair.

Interested readers will want to know that Hugo Tagholm (former chief executive of Surfers Against Sewage), Jo Bradley (Stormwater Shepherds), Luke Pollard (MP for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport), Steve Race (Labour Parliamentary candidate for Exeter), and Exeter

City Councillors Martin Pearce and Ruth Williams will be taking part in a panel discussion on this topic on Friday, December 2, at Positive Lights Project, 184-187 Sidwell Street, Exeter. (Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm start).

The event, ‘Our water: from the city to the sea’, is hosted by Exeter Labour for a Green New Deal and Exeter Labour students. Everyone is welcome – in person or by Zoom – and questions can be sent to exeterlgnd@gmail.com. Tickets are free and your readers can register at the event website (ourwaterexeter. eventbrite.co.uk).

Many local groups who are campaigning around water quality, including Friends of the Earth and Exeter Science, will be there and we are hoping for good conversations and some positive campaign messages.
