Alliance Pharma delays results a third time

-

WILTSHIRE-BASED Alliance Pharma has replaced its chief executive and announced a delay to its annual results for a third time.

The Chippenham-headquartered firm, which sells prescription and over-the-counter medicines, has confirmed Peter Butterfield is leaving the company to pursue “other business interests”. Nick Sedgwick, who has 30 years’ experience working for businesses including consumer goods company Reckitt, US multinational Coty, and food and drink firm Nestlé, will join Alliance as chief executive on May 13. In February, the mid-cap company appointed Camillo Pane as chair. She previously worked with Mr Sedgwick at Coty.

Mr Butterfield joined the board of Alliance in 2010 and became its chief executive in 2018.

He said: “It has been a genuine privilege to lead Alliance over the last six years through a period of growth and transformation. I am very confident that the company is in good hands and look forward to seeing it go from strength to strength.”

Mr Sedgwick said: “I am really excited to be joining Alliance at such an important time for the business. I look forward to getting to know the company over the next few months and working with the management team to deliver the next phase of growth.”

Alliance Pharma said the departure of its chief executive was not linked to the delay in issuing its results. The business is undergoing an audit process and confirmed it would provide an update on revised timing “in due course”. The company first delayed its results on April 5, then again on April 22 and on May 8.
