51 things to eat in Wales before you die

Eating in Wales has never been so delicious, as lifestyle editor Kathryn Williams reports...

-

WHEN it comes to eating in Wales, we’ve never had it so good. From pop-up food events to Michelin stars and traditional Welsh fare, there has never been so much good food to celebrate right here in our country that’s full of creative producers and talented chefs.

We’ve got amazing Michelin-starred restaurants, AA Rosettes galore and Good Food Guide entries, but we’ve also got inventive street food vendors, tiny corner restaurants, cafés and sandwich shops and brunch spots serving up the best quality and delicious grub.

We’ve got an amazing mix of 51 of the best (in no particular order) for all tastes and budgets and there are probably plenty more we could have mentioned – but we had to stop somewhere...

GROUND’S OVERNIGHT BACON

This is incredible and elevates your average bacon and egg brunch to another level. Like having a super indulgent pork belly for breakfast, but nicer. Choose them with the mushrooms, too, however they cook them – herby and buttery – it works. One of the best brunches in Wales for sure.

SOUVLAKI FROM MEAT AND GREEK

Grilled meats, halloumi served in a hot pitta. These guys know their stuff when it comes to grilling meat and exceptional flavours.

CUBANO AT WRIGHT’S FOOD EMPORIUM

There are sandwiches and then there’s this. Myrddin Heritage pork belly, homemade ciabatta. It’s so good there’s even a lush artwork of it you can put up in your kitchen.
