Chris Needs actor needed
Do you have what it takes to portray the late radio presenter?
THE search is on to find an actor to portray much-loved BBC radio presenter Chris Needs in a new play about his life.
Based on his three-volume autobiography, Chris’ life-story is being brought to the stage and screen by a team including his life partner and husband Gabe Cameron.
The next phase of development is finding the right actor to portray Chris.
Cameron, the play’s creative producer, said: “Chris really was a uniquely talented, loving and generous man. The task of finding the person who could get within even touching distance of the charisma he exuded will be quite a challenge.”
Project producer Karen Struel-white added: “We were in the final phases of preparing a production about Chris’ life when he was taken from us. As time has passed and with Gabe’s kind permission and central involvement, we will now get the opportunity to present a tantalising glimpse into Chris’ very full life – the good and the bad, the happy and the sad.”
Working with Gabe on the script has been PT Rose, a lifelong friend of both Chris and Gabe. He previously penned dramas about Richard Burton, Tom Jones and Dylan Thomas. More recent subjects have included Marilyn Monroe and the Beatles.
Anyone interested in playing Chris is invited to get in touch with Karen.
“All are welcome to apply for the role of Chris. Auditions will be held on a regional basis and we look forward to meeting those shortlisted,” she said.
