LLANDEILO Lit Fest will also include the first Llandeilo’s Children’s Literature Festival – a celebration of children’s story telling in Wales.

Kate Glanville, novelist and co-chair of the Gwˆ yl Lên Llandeilo Lit Fest, says: “This is the first time we’ve had a dedicated young people’s programme at the festival, and it promises to be an action-packed weekend for children of all ages. There will be lots of workshops for children and parents to enjoy, Mabinogion-themed stories, and poems and artwork on display from our activities with schools.”

Yr Hen Farhnad will be the venue for two days of free creative events to fire the imagination. There will be talks and workshops from award winning Welsh writers in Welsh and English, and lots of hands-on art and craft. Children will be able to take part in book binding, printing, pottery, textiles, illustration, calligraphy, performance and creative writing, plus Lego and face painting.

Academy Award-winning Aardman Animation will hold model-making and animation workshops and there will be storytelling, quiet spaces for reading and opportunities for swapping books. Every child will go home with a free book.

Kid’s Fest has been working with local schools over the past few months on creative projects leading up to the festival weekend. On the day before the festival there will be a school’s workshop held in Llandeilo Primary School including five local primary schools, Years 3-6. During the day Bardd Plant Cyrmru Nia Morais and children’s laureate Alex Wharton will hold poetry workshops alongside storyteller Ceri Phillips and there will be creative writing, performance and illustration workshops.
