Drug dealing yobs attacked police officer

-

A police dash-cam recording has emerged of the horrifying moment two drug dealers attacked a uniformed police officer.

The footage shows the officer being set upon after he approached Kalvyn McGimpsey and Liam Elms. The pair had driven to North Wales from Merseyside to sell more than £5,000 worth of cannabis.

PC Meurig Jones, from North Wales Police, is seen approaching the pair in the car park at Menai Bridge, Anglesey.

He searches McGimpsey, 24, of Ardrossa Road, Anfield, and finds a small amount of cannabis on him.

Off camera, PC Jones then reaches for a black bag in the footwell of the blue Lexus but McGimpsey grabs it.

Elms, 32, of Chigwell Close, Croxteth, then put the officer in a headlock and drags him to the ground while McGimpsey escaped with the bag.

It emerged later he knocked on nearby home, asking for residents to hide him in exchange for cash. The residents refused, one calling the police, and the fugitive was found in scaffolding nearby. The bag – containing 548g of herbal cannabis – was found in a wheelie bin.

McGimpsey and Elms were tried at Caernarfon Crown Court, where a jury heard that PC Jones needed hospital treatment after the assault on January 10.

Judge Niclas Parry jailed the pair for 46 months for assaulting a PC and conspiracy with intent to supply cannabis.
