CRASH BOY’S ORGANS DONATED

AN “AMAZING” seven-yearold boy who died after being hit by a car has helped others live by donating his organs.

Fraser Bates and his dad Stuart, 43, from Llanishen, Cardiff, were crossing the A4119 near Miskin when they were hit by an Alfa Romeo car around 12.30am on Sunday.

In a Facebook post, devastated wife and mother Anna-Louise Bates said: “Just wanted to let you all know that my amazing fab little boy has continued to amaze me and to be a complete superstar and to donate all his organs.”

The post has been shared more than 550 times with people describing Fraser as a “special little man” and a “wonderful little boy”.

Mrs Bates, who refers to her son as her “little bear”, said she made the decision in order to “pass on her son’s love” to someone else who may need it.

Her post read: “I have just said goodbye to my beautiful baby bear! Didn’t seem right without you Stuart Bates, but know you are both together now watching out for one another and playing football with Duncan Edwards!

“Am waiting for the organ dona- tion people to arrive to hope that I can pass on some bear love at least to someone else, but these very, very special men will never ever be forgotten.”

Mr Bates was rushed to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital where he died of his injuries. Fraser died early on Sunday evening at the Bristol Children’s Hospital.

Organ transplant officials praised Mrs Bates’ bravery following the decision.

A spokesman on behalf of Organ Donation Wales said: “Organ donation transforms lives but we must also recognise and give thanks to all those people who have donated their organs to save the lives of others and those brave families who have supported organ donation.

“All our thoughts and wishes go out to Anna and her family at this most difficult of times.”

Mrs Bates also shared a moving video on Facebook of her beloved husband and son singing Coldplay’s Fix You together.

The video of the pair, posted in 2012 when Fraser was three, has been viewed nearly 10,000 times on YouTube and shows Coldplay fan Stuart playing the 2005 hit on his guitar while his son sits next to him and sings along.

Friends have been paying tribute to the pair on Mrs Bates’ post sharing the video.

One user wrote: “This is such a lovely video, it shows what amazing and beautiful people they are.”

Another said: “I can’t stop watching this.”

Fraser and his father were huge music fans and the seven-year-old played guitar on stage with The Zoots, a five-piece rock band.

Writing on Facebook the band said: “Fraser, just aged seven, was perhaps our youngest (and most brilliant) and by far the best guest lead guitarist we’ve ever had perform on stage with us.

“We enjoyed rockin’ out with him and I remember the crowd went totally wild and practically roared for more!

“Stuart, Fraser’s father, was an absolute pleasure to meet; he filmed the show and took lots of photos of us. It was so lovely to meet Stuart, Fraser and their family and we are totally shocked and saddened at the news of their untimely deaths.”
