TOGETHER, STRONGER
Support Wales in the Euro 2016 championships and Tenovus with our new wristbands
IT’S the summer we’ve all been waiting for – and we’re in it Together, Stronger. It’s been more than half a century since Wales has been able to come as one and celebrate our side in a major football finals.
But after the qualification heroics of Chris Coleman’s side in reaching Euro 2016, this is our time – and WalesOnline have come up with the perfect way for you to show your support for our team in France.
With just six weeks until Ashley Williams leads out the Welsh stars against Slovakia in Bordeaux on June 11, we have linked up with the FAW, Tenovus Cancer Care and Brains to launch a charity wristband so we can all show we’re backing Gareth Bale and co across the Channel.
And what better way to show our united front for this French summer by proudly displaying the message – TogetherStronger – that saw the team triumph in their bid to reach the tournament.
Now you can show you’re together, stronger too – with the team’s motto on our bands which you can buy for £1 from Tenovus shops and Brains pubs around the whole of Wales.
It follows on from our successul #comeonwales wristbands launched to back the country’s rugby side in last year’s Rugby World Cup, raising an incredible £25,000 in the process.
Stars of the Wales side are backing our campaign, which not only supports the side, but also give richlydeserved backing to Welsh charity Tenovus, which provides treatment, emotional support and practical advice to families affected by cancer across Welsh communities.
The leading cancer charity in Wales, Tenovus offers support from experienced nurses 365 days a year for everything you and your loved ones might need in difficult times, with qualified cancer support advisers also able to tell you if there’s any extra money or benefits you might be entitled to.
Manager Chris Coleman said: “I am delighted that on the back of qualification we are able to support such a fantastic cause. Tenovus have given Welsh football wonderful backing over the last few years and in a small way I feel we as a squad and management are able to give something back.”
Skipper Ashley Williams added: “Cancer touches all of our lives in one way or another. These wristbands will help Tenovus Cancer Care, Wales’ leading cancer charity, to do more to help people affected by this terrible disease. I urge everyone to buy one and support both this fantastic charity, and the national team. It’s a great way to show that we’re #TogetherStronger.”
And midfielder Joe Ledley said: “Everyone knows someone who’s been affected by cancer, and it’s great that Tenovus Cancer Care are there to help when you need them. I’m supporting them and they’re supporting us. Please join me and buy a wristband – we’re #TogetherStronger.”
The wristbands are available now and can be found at most Brain pubs and Tenovus shops. For a full list of outlets, visit WalesOnline.co.uk
