Drugs adviser dies after overdose

-

A MAN who had worked with the Welsh Government delivering advice on drug-related support died after taking an accidental drugs overdose, an inquest has heard.

Justin Mark Morris, 35, from Llanelli, who had previously overcome his own issues with drug abuse and went on to support others, died after taking a mixture of drugs including heroin and cocaine.

The inquest into his death held at Milford Haven Town Hall heard that Mr Morris, who was a keen and active sportsman, was working as a tree surgeon at the time of his death but had worked as a drugs adviser.

“He started working with the Welsh Assembly Government, liaising with various organisations delivering advice on drug-related support,” said coroner’s officer Malcolm Thompson.

“He carried on with this work for a number of years before having a relapse into drug use. On Sunday, February 21, Justin went to visit friends in a flat in the Station Road area of Llanelli,” said Mr Thompson. “He was found in a collapsed and unresponsive state at approximately 2.20pm that day. Several persons there indicated he had injected heroin.”

Coroner Mark Layton concluded that the death was drugs-related.
