New flavours to try from Village Dairy

-

Village Dairy marks the 30th anniversary of making award-winning yogurt LLAETH Y Llan/Village Dairy marked the 30th anniversary of making its award-winning yogurt last year, and is happy to say that it is still being made on the Roberts family farm, Llannefydd, North Wales.

The dairy was established to diversify the farm’s business in the 1980s, creating pasteurised milk, cream and yogurt for the local community. The yogurt was originally sold through local milk rounds and independent stores.

Through the years the products have grown a faithful fan base and can now be found in major retailers throughout Wales, all through this fabulous support.

New flavours and ranges have been trialled, with 14 different flavours of the little pots and seven flavours in the large pots. Vanilla is the newest, and the Llaeth Y Llan team are eager for it to win some awards this year, like the rest of the range has over the years.

The company has gone from strength to strength and is in a period of expansion.

This year will see the new 2,000-square-metre modern production facility open, which will double current capacity and create jobs in North Wales – all still located on the family farm.

It’s an exciting period in the company’s history as the new facility will allow the company to explore different markets and production methods, but more importantly continue to make great dairy products from Wales.

The company is proud of its roots, and insists on using wholesome Welsh milk from the local area due to its high quality, creating yogurt that’s rich, creamy and full of flavour which consumers love.

The dairy industry in Wales is facing tough times and Llaeth Y Llan/Village Dairy would like to play its part in promoting the quality of the milk that is produced in Wales.

Due to the famous Welsh climate, Welsh milk can be said to be from cows that are primarily grass fed, GM free and is a perfect base for making added-value dairy products.

They are offering food hygiene advice and food safety training packages that are designed to suit all types of business, large or small, providing a friendly and confidential service.

Company founders Amanda Elliot and Faye Mumford have both worked as environmental health officers for the past 15 years, and have extensive experience of working in the public and private sectors. Passionate about their subject, the partners say their aim is to make all aspects of food safety easier for businesses to understand, and to help companies involved in food production maintain the highest achievable food safety standards.

A company spokesman said they believe there is a real need for the type of training they can provide, delivered in an approachable manner and in simple terms: “Food safety concerns everyone, but it’s an area that can seem quite complicated, even to experienced food producers. We can help with everything from deciphering information received from food and safety inspectors, carrying out audits, training food handlers in how to produce safe food and preparing them for a food hygiene inspection.”

A2z Food Safety will also provide clients with regular updates on changes to legislation that may affect food hygiene rating, and deliver accredited food safety training at levels one, two and three, including online video training for caterers, food retailers, and manufacturers.

They can also design a bespoke food safety management system with easy-to-use paperwork that is fully compliant.
