15 mammoth eating challenges you’ll never finish alone...

THESE are some of the biggest plates of food you can eat in Wales. Inspired by US TV show Man v Food, they are truly super-sized – but you don’t have to travel to the States to eat them.

But before you rush out to try them, know this: a fried egg is around 196 calories, a rasher of bacon 123 and a small burger comes in at around 188 calories. You do the maths.

1. The Roman Empire Sundae at Coco Gelato

Roman Empire Probably best to share this one with a friend, or five.

Cost: £32.95

What’s the challenge? 18 scoops of icecream, four hot waffles, fresh fruit, four chocolate bars, fudge brownies, toppings of your choice, syrup, whipped cream. Where? Cardiff

2. The Hulk Burger and Super Sundae at Lord Beechings

If you don’t mind chowing down more than 4,500 calories in one sitting then the Hulk Burger is for you. Complete the burger and sundae in an hour and you get a T Shirt proving you conquered the food. Cost: £18.95

What’s the challenge? 10oz steak burgers topped with bacon, cheese and a BBQ sauce in a jumbo roll with fries. Ice cream sundae full of Smarties, a flake and chocolate sauce.

3. The ‘Ever So Slightly Big’ Scotch Club Sandwich at North Star

An entire loaf packed with meat and cheese plus a bit extra for the indigestio­n tablets you may need if you wolf it down. Cost: £18 What’s the challenge? A whole loaf of break filled to bursting with chicken, bacon, black pudding, eggs, tomatoes and lettuce. Where? Cardiff

4. 102oz Holly’s holy burger at Grills Steakhouse

Complete this challenge and you’ll get to name the next burger and add a topping of your choice.

5. The 60oz Ultimate Steak at Grills Steakhouse

A steak Fred Flintstone would be proud of. Cost: £34.95 What’s the challenge? 60oz rump steak, mushrooms, two tomatoes, ultimate bowl of steakhouse chips Where? Pontypridd

6. Metre-long wings challenge at Bierkeller

There’s so many wings, it’s easier to measure how many there are than count how many you’re getting. Eat it all up in 20 minutes and the grub is on the house.

Cost: £25

What’s the challenge? A metre long platter loaded with spicy wings and fries. Where? Cardiff

7. Chunkys Four Horseman Burger at The Pitch Diner

There’s a countdown of just 60 minutes for you to try and take down this burger... and survive to tell the tale. There’s a mountain of fries and a pile of salad, too.

Cost: £28.50 What’s the challenge? Two premium loaded burgers, stacked into a tower with extra cheese, bacon, salad and fries. Where? Bridgend

8. The Devil’s Ribcage at the Pitch Diner

Or if you’re really pumped up for the challenge, there’s this behemoth at the Pitch Diner.

Cost: £29.50

What’s the challenge? A mammoth 2lb mountain of hickory chicken wings, salsa sauce and four half-rack BBQ ribs with Monterey Jack melt plus a sink-full of fries. Where? Bridgend

9. The Mammoth Breakfast at Ramon’s

Forget builders breakfast, this is enough for an entire building site. At a monumental 8,000 calories, roughly the guided allowance for four days, they are kind enough to throw in a mug of tea and some orange juice too.

Cost: £17

What’s the challenge? Deep breath... Eight sausages, eight bacon rashers, six eggs, four beef burgers, hash browns, mushrooms, fried potatoes, black pudding, beans, tomatoes, an omelette, toast and buttered bread. Phew!

10. Mixed grill at Smoke Haus, Cardiff and Swansea

There’s a mixed grill then there’s this mixed grill. A monster.

Cost: £31.95

What’s the challenge? Brisket, Smoke Haus pulled pork, pastrami served with a Haus chilli dog, full rack of pork sheet ribs, a large portion of our own skin on fries and slaw.

Where? Cardiff and Swansea

11. Two-foot Haus Monster Sandwhich at Smoke Haus

This is one portion. We repeat. This is ONE portion (picture below). If the guy eating it got out alive, we salute him.

Cost: £22.95

What’s the challenge? A two-foot long Oscar roll filled with Haus smoked chicken, ham, pan fried wafer thin top side of beef topped with home made cheese sauce, sweet fried onions, lettuce and tomato, salad and skin on fries. Where? Cardiff and Swansea

12. The Smoke Haus Ultimate Dessert

If you have enough room after your giant mixed grill or sandwich, then why not go the extra mile and order this calorific dessert?

Cost: £9.95

What’s the challenge? A huge bowl of vanilla and banana ice cream, with marshmallo­ws, doughnuts, chunks of mud pie and squirty cream, chocolate and toffee sauce.

13. The Beast Baguette at Uplands Diner

Get your mouth around this one. Cost: £6.70

What’s the challenge? A huge baguette stuffed with four sausages, three eggs, six rashers of bacon, black pudding, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, beans and a hash brown.

14. The Mega Beast Breakfast at Uplands Diner

Where do you even begin to start with this amount of food?

Cost: £10

What’s the challenge? 10 rashers of bacon, five eggs, eight sausages, chips, two hash browns, two pieces of black pudding, four slices of toast, four slices of bread and butter, four fried bread and a small burger.

15. The Sky Scraper Burger at Big ‘N’ Beefy

A huge melting mass of moreish meat. Cost: £10.95 What’s the challenge? Massive 24oz burger, topped with cheese, mushrooms, bacon, onion rings, crispy lettuce and fresh sliced tomato. Where? Rhyl
