Four eventing championships over one weekend this August
THE only event where you will see four eventing championships taking place over one weekend, in one venue, The Princess Royal’s beautiful Gloucestershire Estate, Gatcombe Park, near Stroud where the best horses and riders from across the sport battle it out for the coverted titles of British Open, Intermediate, Novice and Amateur Championships.
Alongside the eventing action don’t miss the stars of “Game of Thrones” The Devils Horseman who will be thrilling the crowds once again after a nine-year absence from the event. The Cossack riders will be hanging upside down, standing on the horses and performing other impressive feats of agility during daily performances on Saturday and Sunday.
All riders need to start somewhere and we have more than 50 Pony Club teams competing in the Team Show Jumping and Mounted Games competitions over the weekend. The ever-popular Shetland Pony Grand National returns once again, alongside the elegant Dressage to Music, the fast-paced Scurry Driving and Ye Old Red Tail Falconry.
Don’t forget to bring your dog. The Harringtons Arena will host a “Fun Dog Show” and Have A Go’ Dog Agility on Saturday and Sunday and there is a children’s play area for little people.
There will be a great shopping village selling everything from hot tubs and shepherds huts, to fashion and country clothing, stunning jewellery and gorgeous boots, artists and sculptors, pink gin from Cambridge and wines from bordeaux plus everything you could possibly need for your horse or dog. When you’ve worked up an appetite we have an array of artisan food stalls and the Pol Roger Champagne Lodge for a great glass of fizz!
The Festival of British Eventing, takes place from August 5-7 at Gatcombe Park, Gloucestershire.
