LEAGUE TWO ROUND-UP

-

DONCASTER took advantage of surprise defeats for Plymouth and Carlisle to move back to the top of Sky Bet League Two.

Rovers were 1-0 winners against Stevenage, grabbing a fortuitous winner five minutes from time as Tommy Rowe’s shot from the edge of the area was bundled into his own net by Boro defender Fraser Franks.

Plymouth, leaders at the start of the day, slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Barnet with Mauro Vilhete scoring the only goal in the 14th minute.

And Carlisle also slipped to defeat, losing 3-1 to Grimsby at Brunton Park.

Exeter scored four goals for the second successive game as they thumped Leyton Orient 4-0.

Colchester continued their fine form with a 2-0 win against Cheltenham.

Luke Berry scored twice as Cambridge romped to a 4-0 win at home to struggling Notts County.

Defender Christian Burgess scored the only goal of the game as Portsmouth claimed a 1-0 win against Luton, while Matt Green’s 11th goal of the season was enough for Mansfield to see off Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.

BRIGHOUSE TOWN ......... 2 COLWYN BAY .................... 1

COLWYN BAY are now without a win in five Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North games after this defeat in West Yorkshire.

Bay were hoping to avenge their 2-1 defeat in the reverse fixture at Llanelian Road back in August, but fell behind on 13 minutes through a Tom Dugdale goal.

Town doubled that advantage five minutes before half-time when Luke Parkin scored from the spot after Bay had given away a penalty.

The visitors did pull one back in the final minute when Adam Field put through his own net, but it was came too late to have any bearing on the result.
