YFC appeal to former members over lease

-

WALES YFC is asking former members for help in a bid to secure the lease on its headquarters building.

The head lease on the building at the Royal Welsh Showground is owned by Neath Port Talbot College, which has given Wales YFC first option on buying it.

Wales YFC already owns the lease on the first floor, which is where its office is located.

But Neath Port Talbot College is giving up the lease on the ground floor, and rather than see it fall into another owner’s hands, Wales YFC has chosen to buy it.

The organisation needs to raise £76,100 to purchase the lease and has a deadline of February 28.

It also hopes to raise another £75,000 to pay for improvements and refurbishment.

As well as present members, Wales YFC hopes that former members who have enjoyed the benefits of membership in the past will also help in reaching the target.

John Davies, Wales YFC finance committee chairman, said: “Speaking as a past member of Wales YFC myself, I would like to encourage everyone that has had an involvement with the organisation to help us raise these funds needed.

“All past members have benefited immensely from this organisation over the years. My plea is to past members to put your hand in your pocket and help make this building into a proper resource centre for future members of this fantastic organisation.”

Wales YFC chairman Arwel Jones added: “We have been given a fantastic opportunity to build a solid foundation for future generations of Wales’ young farmers but we need financial help to make this dream of owning the entire building in which Wales YFC are currently situated become a reality.”

Suggested donations are £25 per brick, £100 for a keystone, £250 for a corner stone and £500 for a foundation stone, but if organisations or individuals want to give more then Wales YFC would consider naming one of the rooms in honour of the donation.
