Clement not afraid to use the ‘hairdryer’

-

DERBY County captain Richard Keogh has revealed that “quiet” Swansea City boss Paul Clement is no stranger to dishing out the hairdryer treatment.

The 30-year-old defender (above) played under Clement during his time as manager of the Pride Park club and also worked with the former Bayern Munich assistant during his time in the Republic of Ireland Under-21 set-up.

And Keogh admits the Swansea manager is a “quiet man” – but said Clement is not afraid to make his feelings known in the dressing room if he is not happy with the way his side are performing.

“He is doing a fantastic job,” Keogh told the Derby Telegraph.

“People will look at what happened here and say this and that, but he is a high-calibre coach and so it is no surprise to me that he is doing a fantastic job.

“I got on well with him during his time here and I had worked with him before with Republic of Ireland Under-21s.

“I am pleased for him that he is back in management. It seems like a good fit, him and Swansea.

“I am pleased to see him doing well.

“He is quite a quiet man, very meticulous, very calm but he can get vocal when he needs to.

“He has picked up a lot of good habits from working with some world-class coaches and managers.

“I certainly learned a lot from him.”

Clement, who was axed by Derby after only eight months at the club, has guided the Swans up to 15th place in the Premier League – four points clear of the relegation zone – since joining the club in the opening week of the year.

The Swans have averaged an impressive two points-per-game under his leadership, more than any other side under a new manager has achieved during the course of the 2016/17 campaign.

He scooped the January manager of the month award after guiding the Swans to stunning victories over Liverpool at Anfield and Southampton at the Liberty Stadium.
