There’s only one team Bluebirds fans should be watching – Blake

- Paul Abbandonato

CARDIFF CITY legend Nathan Blake has told fans they should prioritise Neil Warnock’s Bluebirds ahead of Wales this weekend.

Warnock’s men seek their fourth win on the trot – a feat not achieved since Malky Mackay’s title winning team of 2013 – when they host Fulham in the Welsh capital on Saturday afternoon.

At the same time, Wales will have kicked off against Scotland at Murrayfield as Alun Wyn Jones and his men seek to put their Six Nations title hopes back on track with a bonus point victory.

It is a most unfortunate football versus rugby clash and could have a knock on effect on the gate at Cardiff City Stadium.

Under normal circumstances, the booming Bluebirds could expect a 20-25,000 gate for their biggest and most significant home game of the season to date.

Overcome Fulham, on top of the wins versus Derby, Leeds and Rotherham, and talk of an outside last-gasp push for the play-offs perhaps clear with their own performance level.

“Paul Clement has come in and, sacked by Derby or not, he has implemented a training regime and management style the team have suddenly responded to. Hey ho, results are suddenly completely different.

“It happens. My personal view is that things haven’t looked right in that Cardiff dressing room since Malky Mackay left.

“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer didn’t grasp the magnitude of the job properly. I always felt Paul Trollope wanted the players’ ‘love’. Russell Slade needed them on board.

“After a while, I felt some of Slade’s post-match comments became repetitive.

“Some fans were saying they saw the game differently. If the manager didn’t, how were things going to change for the better?

“Well, I actually think Slade probably did see it, but perhaps was a little wary of too much criticism in public because he needed the players on board.
