Hairdressing entrepeneur encourages businesses to enter employees on WordSkills UK
A CARDIFF-BASED hairdresser, encouraging businesses to register members of staff to compete at WorldSkills UK, says award-winning employees have direct benefits for the business.
Tino Constantinou has supported his employee and daughter, Eleni as she won silver at EuroSkills 2014 and brought home a medallion of excellence from WorldSkills São Paulo 2015.
Tino, 60, from Abertridwr, said: “WorldSkills is a great way to pass invaluable skills onto the next generation.
“As a business, we’ve seen a rise in customers asking for Eleni after seeing her in the newspapers doing really well, the publicity is worth its weight in gold.”
Backed by the Welsh Government through the European Social Fund, Skills Competition Wales and WorldSkills UK promote the importance of developing a highlyskilled workforce.
Minister for Skills and Science, Julie James, said: “Last year, Wales topped the leader board at the Skills Show in Birmingham, bringing home 45 medals, and without encouragement from family and businesses Wales wouldn’t have such a significant number of highly-skilled competitors and employees.”
