ALMOST £3,500 has been raised to support the partner and “two beautiful little girls” left behind after a man was killed following an attack outside a nightclub.

Henry Ayabowei, known to many friends as Henry Esin, was found unconscious outside Peep nightclub in Bangor during the early hours of Saturday and later died from his injuries.

More than £1,850 was raised in four hours for the popular 27-year-old amateur footballer, also known as Romeo to his friends, who has been described as a “true gentleman” and recently became a father.

The fundraising page says: “No money can replace a loved one, but with raising some funds it will help Melicia and their little family out a bit.

“Our community is in deep shock and saddened by this event, and we offer our deepest sympathy at this time.”

Llangefni mum-of-three Eleri Dennis set up the page to show support to his young family during this difficult time. She said: “I was in school with his partner, Melicia, and can’t even imagine what they’re going through right now.

“It’s been a huge shock to the whole community, this type of thing doesn’t usually happen around here, but that doesn’t make it any easier for the family to accept.”

North Wales Police confirmed on Sunday that Henry died in hospital and a murder investigation is underway.

Several tributes have been paid on social media to Henry who is originally from London and a former Bangor University student.

Llanfairpwll FC player-manager Steve Smith said the Arsenal fan was a “true gentleman” and a “really, really nice guy” who would do “anything asked of him”.

Llanfairpwll FC will hold a minute’s silence before their game against Cemaes Bay tomorrow to remember the striker.

A statement on the club’s Facebook page said: “We offer Henry’s family and friends our sincerest condolences at this most heartbreaking time. Gone but never forgotten, a true gentleman in every sense.”

Lou Henri said: “All he had to give was love all he ever did was help others. Romeo shine on forever brother.”

Gemma Edwards Locke wrote: “My heart absolutely breaks for his girls and partner. No child should have to grow up with a parent being snatched away from them.”

Sarah Currie wrote: “Henry used to take 999 calls with us and regularly heard how awful people can become when alcohol is involved. So sorry he lost his life like this.”

Linda Hughes said Mr Esin was “a most polite gentleman (and) wellrespected young man”.

Henry was transferred to Stoke hospital after he was attacked, but died on Sunday. A 26-year-old man from the Bangor area was arrested after the attack, and was re-arrested on suspicion of murder following Henry’s death.
