Dahl’s Matilda is Christmas 2018 show

MATILDA The Musical has been named as the Christmas 2018 show at the Wales Millennium Centre .
The show, which is inspired by Roald Dahl’s beloved book Matilda, will be going to Cardiff between December 4, 2018 and January 12, 2019 as part of its first ever UK and Ireland tour.
Now in its sixth year in London’s West End, Matilda The Musical is the longest running production at the Cambridge Theatre, where it continues to play to packed houses.
With a book by Dennis Kelly, original songs by Tim Minchin and direction by Matthew Warchus, Matilda The Musical is the story of an extraordinary little girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her own destiny.
It’s won 85 major international awards, including 16 for Best Musical, and has already been seen by more than 6.5 million people worldwide.
It swept the board 2012 Olivier Awards with a record-breaking seven awards, and winning four Tony Awards and a Tony Honor for Excellence in the Theater and Matilda The Musical has now played in 51 cities worldwide.
Artistic Director of Wales Millennium Centre, Graeme Farrow, said: “I’m delighted that Matilda will coming to the birth city of her creator Roald Dahl, Cardiff, next Christmas.
“This magical production, which has been enchanting audiences since it first opened seven years ago, will be the perfect show for the festive season.
“Our hugely successful Dahl centenary celebrations in 2016 created inspirational and memorable experiences for so many people and I am confident that Matilda the Musical will capture the hearts and imagination of our audience - in particular the younger generation for whom this might be their first theatre outing.
“We can’t wait to welcome Matilda’s cast and crew to the Centre in December 2018.”
Tickets priced from £20 go on sale on Monday, April 24, following a priority booking period between April 19 and 25.
