GWYN JONES’ VERDICT ON JUDGEMENT DAY’S TWO BATTLES

Swansea manager says too many changes could scupper their bid to avoid drop from Premier League WARNOCK WANTS HIS BLUEBIRDS TO SHOW SOME STEEL

MANAGER Paul Clement says he will not throw caution to the wind when his Swansea City side continue their quest for Premier League survival against Watford.

The Swans need to put a poor display at West Ham behind them when they go to Vicarage Road, and have struggled for goals of late.

They have been plunged back into the relegation mire after a run of five league matches without a win, but Clement said making substantial changes to his team could have crippling consequences.

“I have to be ready to react to what is happening, but there is no point going gung-ho and finding yourself 3-0 down,” he said.

“The longer the game goes on and goes well you can look to changes, as you would if things are not going well.”

Crystal Palace’s stunning 3-0 win over Arsenal at Selhurst Park on Monday night saw Sam Allardyce’s men move six points clear of the Swans, with the Eagles also boasting a game in hand. That coupled with Hull’s victory over Middlesbrough last week has left the Swans in a precarious position ahead of their trip to Vicarage Road. And Clement will certainly be hoping for favours from Stoke and Leicester, who face the Tigers and Palace respectively this weekend. When asked if the Swans are in a straight relegation shoot-out with Hull, Clement responded: “As we sit here and speak about it, yes. “But I don’t know what the situation will be in three or four games.” The Swans currently trail Marco Silva’s men by two points with just six games left of the season, but could climb out of the relegation zone if they overcome Walter Mazzarri’s side and Hull suffer defeat to Mark Hughes’ Stoke at the bet365 Stadium.
