Mum led astray by postcode for Easter egg hunt

-

A MOTHER claims her children were left disappointed when they got lost on the way to an Easter egg hunt and arrived to find all the eggs had already gone.

Gemma Stubbs, 32, from Tir-yBerth, Hengoed, set out with her children Isabel, eight, and Rowan, three, at 10.30am on Saturday to an Easter egg hunt organised by the National Trust and Cadbury.

But Gemma said she and her family got lost on a country lane in Libanus near Brecon when the postcode provided for the Easter egg hunt led them there instead of to the Sugar Loaf near Abergavenny.

Gemma said it took them another 30 minutes to reach the Lower Llanwenarth car park at the foot of the Sugar Loaf where the Easter egg hunt started.

She claimed that when they arrived at 12.20pm they were told there were no more Easter eggs available as prizes or maps of the trail which would allow the children to take part.

She said: “It’s disappointing for my children.

“My daughter is a bit older so she can understand, but my little boy was excited and told his teachers in nursery.

“He couldn’t understand why he couldn’t do the hunt when he arrived.”

A National Trust spokesman said: “We’re sorry that the address details given on the website and on Facebook were not the correct ones for the event at Sugar Loaf.

“Though the How to Get Here section of the National Trust’s website does give directions by road to the car park, the postcode was wrong, so is now being corrected.

“This year we put on over 300 Cadbury Egg Hunts at National Trust properties across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland in the lead-up to Easter. Some sites were extremely popular over the Easter weekend and ran out of Cadbury products that were offered as a prize for completing the hunt.

“We’re sorry that some families did not get the day out they were expecting. Anyone who was affected can get in touch with us directly at NTWalesMedia@nationaltrust.org. uk”

Cadbury has also been approached for comment.
