Wales aceWebb praised for helping OAP in need
SPORTS stars and other famous people often get a bad rap from us mere mortals.
They get paid well for what they do, they have bags of fame and some tend to live lavish lifestyles.
However, Wales, and soon-tobe British and Irish Lions scrumhalf Rhys Webb has showed that you don’t have to sacrifice kindness for stardom. On Friday, the day before he managed to play a crucial match for the Ospreys in the middle of performing best man duties at his best mate’s wedding, the 28-year-old produced an act of incredible selflessness.
In Bridgend, Webb spotted an elderly woman attempting to cross a busy road and approached her to give her a helping hand.
The woman, described as looking “lost and confused” had been to visit a friend and had no mobile phone or key to get into her home. She was trying to find a taxi to go and meet her husband, who had an appointment at a doctor’s surgery.
Webb stopped and told her to jump in his car and gave her a lift.
An Instagram user, the elderly woman’s daughter, posted a message on Webb’s page expressing her gratitude.
“I wanted to contact you to say a huge thank-you for helping my elderly mother on Friday,” wrote Liz Brett. “You stopped to offer her a lift as she was looking a bit lost and confused. My sister and I are so grateful you took the time to help her. We are so touched that a young man would think to stop to help and go out of your way to give her a lift. Mum said you were utterly charming.”
