Corsby hopes his Euro dream will come true

-

CHARLIE Corsby, the goal-scoring hero of Cardiff Met’s Europa League semi-final play-off victory at Carmarthen last week, admits that the opportunity to cement a place in Europe leaves him in dreamland.

The students are on the cusp of a remarkable fairytale end to a campaign which started with the one aim – to avoid relegation – but glory is within their grasp plus an initial jackpot of £210,000.

Corsby admitted: “I definitely do have to pinch myself sometimes, especially when I look back to when I arrived in Cardiff a few years ago and we were in the fourth tier. We are now in the top tier and can qualify for Europe. Incredible.

“We’ve reached this far and we are not going to go into this game lying down. We are not favourites but we NANTPORTH 5.15pm BANGOR CITY v CARDIFF MET will be all out to win. It’s hard to put into words what it would mean to reach Europe but it’s a huge opportunity and we must grab it with both hands. Bangor are a good outfit with a potent attack. If we contain them we have a good chance of winning” he added.

Bangor’s player-manager Gary Fletcher Taylor scored for Blackpool in their winning Championship play-off final against Cardiff City at Wembley in 2010, to land a place in the Premier League, but he’s looking to finish his distinguished career with a place in Europe.

“It would be special to have a crack at Europe but we have to perform for 90 minutes,” he said.
