PAUL Clement has outlined his desire to keep Gylfi Sigurdsson at Swansea City, and re-iterated the club’s stance that the Iceland star will be going nowhere unless their valuation is met.

The Swans hierarchy have slapped a £50million price tag on the 27-year-old amidst interest from Everton and Leicester.

The Foxes had a £40million offer rejected as Swansea seek to make clear they will not be cowed into the sale of their star man.

Sigurdsson returned to the club’s Fairwood training base on Friday, having been given extra time off following his international commitments June.

Swansea will fly to the US tomorrow following tonight’s game at Barnet (7.45pm) ahead of a training camp and fixtures against Philadelphia Union, Richmond Kickers and North Carolina.

And Clement has confirmed Sigurdsson, pictured, will be on the plane as he plans on having the former Reading and Tottenham man among his squad for the 2017-18 season. in

“Gylfi has been an excellent player here,” said Swans boss Clement.

“He has three years on his contract and if any business is going to be done, it will be done on the terms we want.

“The club recognised his contribution by giving him an extended contract last season. He was happy to stay on here.

“At the moment he is a Swansea player and we have to carry on looking at it that way.”

And Clement has been impressed by the attitude and application shown by Sigurdsson - who has three years left on his contract at the Liberty – in the days since his return to the Swansea fold.

“He is training hard and straightaway he is at the top of all the statistics physically,” said the head coach.

“I am planning for him to be here, but there is clearly some very strong interest in him. “We will have to see what happens.” But one man who has left the Swans is midfielder Jack Cork.

Cork, who skippered the club last season, has completed a move to Premier League rivals Burnley for a deal worth up to £10million.

It was an offer Swans chiefs found too good to turn down, particularly given they are already well populated in the midfield department.

Cork has put pen to paper a fouryear contract at Turf Moor, where he previously spent two loan spells earlier in his career.
