Rhian made partner at Grant Thornton

RHIAN Owen has been promoted to audit partner in the Cardiff office of accountant­s and business advisers Grant Thornton.

Ms Owen, who has been with the firm 12 years, has built a strong reputation advising a wide portfolio of clients across different sectors.

Alistair Wardell, lead partner at Cardiff office, said, ‘We are all delighted with Rhian’s appointmen­t to partner, a promotion which is richly deserved and evidence of Grant Thornton’s ethos of attracting, retaining and developing the best talent. Rhian has played and will continue to play a crucial role in further developing our local growth strategy and I look forward to working with her to achieve this.”

The firm has also boosted its corporate finance offering with the appointmen­t of Trefor Griffith as partner for Wales and the South-West of England.

Mr Griffiths will lead Grant Thornton’s corporate finance advisory team for the region. He leads the consumer industry group for the firm UK-wide, having been based in Grant Thornton’s London office since 2009, with a focus on the food and beverage sector, where he has led deals across the UK.

He has led a number of notable deals over the past few years, including the investment in BVG Airflo by BGF, the acquisitio­n of Thompson and Morgan by BVG, the sale of AerFin to Carval and the recent sale of Westbridge Food Group to CP Foods.

Mr Griffiths said: “I am delighted to be able to join a young, dynamic team covering Wales and the South-West, working with them to continue to grow our business in the region.”
