Now you can follow your RoyalWelsh trail runners on app
RUNNING enthusiasts from across the country will head to mid Wales next May to take part in the challenging Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival.
The event, which forms part of the Royal Welsh Spring Festival, will offer a 10k or half marathon challenge as well as smaller family focused races.
The festival has established itself as one of the biggest trail running events in the UK. A new feature in next year’s event is that competitors will be chip-timed as they cross the start and finish line to deliver the most accurate timings possible, while family and friends will be able to track their progress on a brand-new smartphone app.
The 10K race and half marathon will have separate starts, in an improved start and finish area, located next to a revamped race village
Matt Newman, Run4Wales CEO, said: “The Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival continues to grow year on year, and 2018 promises to be the biggest and best yet. Almost 1,000 runners took in the stunning scenery in the heart of Wales back in May, and we cannot wait to welcome even more runners when the Royal Welsh Spring Festival rolls round again.”
Castell Howell Foods has been announced as the principal partner for next year’s event. Castell Howell Foods managing director Brian Jones said: “Our roots lie deep in the Welsh countryside, so the Royal Welsh Trail Running Festival fits perfectly with our company values. On the day Castell Howell will be supporting all the runners as they achieve their goal of crossing the finish line.”
Entries are now open for the 10K and half marathon races, which start and finish at the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells.
