New brand for pioneer of fashion
FORMER Moss Bros chief executive Rowland Gee has joined the board of Brand Lab, the Newport tech company which has developed a fashion platform for consumers and wholesalers.
Mr Gee ran Moss Bros from 19892002 and was responsible for introducing Hugo Boss to the British high street, building the operation into 17 stores nationwide.
He is also chairman and chief executive of Grey4Gold – Britain’s leading retail mentoring service, which works exclusively with SMEs and start-ups.
Other roles include being a business consultant for Textrade International, India’s leading home-textile manufacturing and export company, now making inroads into the UK market.
Mr Gee’s father founded the eponymous Cecil Gee brand, which became a legendary name in Swinging Sixties London.
Mr Gee has now joined the board of Brand Lab, co-founded by Dan O’Connell and Jennifer Drury, and has taken an advisory position with the company.
He said: “Brand Lab has done a terrific job in creating a ‘smart’ market-relevant site for fashion retailers to trawl the market.”
Brand Lab’s technology allows users to browse and buy multiple brands with a single payment, as its software includes automated purchase orders and invoicing.
Chief executive Ms Drury said: “We’re thrilled to have Rowland on board and we are looking forward to working with him.
“Rowland has already visited our Newport offices and it was fantastic for our staff to meet him.
“His experience and knowledge of the fashion and retail sectors is second to none and his advice will be invaluable to us as Brand Lab enters a period of substantial growth.”
