Half-term bargains for parents in Wales

-

PARENTS could pick up a holiday bargain this half-term – thanks to term-time dates in Wales.

While the majority of schools in England are off from Monday, October 23, Welsh schools tend to be taking their holidays from Monday, October 30.

That means for a Welsh family taking a break in England during the week-long break, the price could be a lot more attractive.

By searching around, we found that at Center Parcs you can save up to £600, thanks to the Welsh half-term being a week later, and at Butlins you can expect to pay around £50 less.

Center Parcs tends to bump up prices around popular periods, with three out of its five locations having little to no availability over the half-term.

For a family of four wanting to visit Longleat Forest in Wiltshire, a two-bedroom Woodland Lodge currently stands at £1,449 for a Monday-to-Friday getaway during the English half-term.

If your children go to school in Wales, you can expect to pay £979 for the same break the week after.

The difference in price doesn’t seem to have an impact on the popularity of Butlins, with Minehead proving a hit at half-term. Dates including from Monday, October 23, until Friday, November 3, were sold out.

At the Bognor Regis resort you can expect to pay £151 a person to stay at the Shoreline Hotel Monday-to-Friday trip during the Englsih half-term dates

To stay at the same hotel during the Welsh half-term would set you back £97 a person.
