Chance to join in at major sheep conference
HYBU Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) is offering sponsorship for a sheep farmer to attend the biennial Sheep Breeders Round Table conference in Nottingham from November 17 to 19.
The conference brings together experts to discuss the challenges and opportunities for sheep breeding, with a special focus on the latest developments in genetics, and also achieving the best performance from flocks. The event attracts farmers, breeders, researchers and vets, and is an opportunity for anybody involved in the industry to hear from experts at the cutting edge of new developments, including speakers from Iceland and Ireland.
The sessions will include a presentation on the latest findings from the RamCompare genetic research project, as well as sessions on marketing, meat eating quality, and how genetic improvement can bring better returns for hill farmers.
HCC is a co-organiser of the event and the sponsorship will cover the full conference registration fee and accommodation.
“Achieving the best possible performance from sheep flocks is more important than ever, as the industry moves towards a post-Brexit world.” said Gwawr Parry, HCC’s Industry Development Officer.
“Any sheep breeders who are keen to expand their knowledge are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.”
Sponsorship forms can be downloaded from the HCC website.
The closing date for applications is 16 October.
