Paid care fees in Wales? You may be due a refund, but you must act now

-

IF you or a loved one has paid care fees in Wales between October 31 2015 and October 31 2016, read on, as you may be able to reclaim them. But hurry, as time is running out.

Hugh James Nursing Care is working together with Age Cymru to raise awareness of a Welsh Government deadline to reclaim wrongly paid care fees.

The deadline is relevant to people who may be eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare, a little known funding scheme where the NHS is responsible for all care fees, regardless of the individual’s ability to pay for their care. If you or a loved one paid care fees between these dates, it’s worth considering whether you may have been eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare as you may then be able to reclaim the fees paid.

What is NHS Continuing Healthcare? NHS Continuing Healthcare is a scheme arranged and funded by the NHS for people receiving care due to primary health needs. However, very few people are aware of this scheme. As a result, families are often left wrongly footing the bill.

You must register your claim by October 31. If you miss the deadline, you will lose your chance to claim for this time period. If you think you may be eligible, Hugh James Nursing Care can offer you a free no obligation assessment. For more information, visit hughjames.com/care-fees or call 0800 988 2373.

Case in point: Mrs W from West Wales came to Hugh James Nursing Care in July 2014. Her late mother had a combination of complicated care needs which included both physical and behavioural needs. By working with the specialist legal department, she was able to reclaim £55,000 in wrongly paid care fees, which were reimbursed in July 2017.

“Thank you so much for your help with reclaiming the fees. The last few years have been incredibly stressful; we would not have got the result we were aiming for without professional help from the Hugh James Nursing Care team,” said her family.

Hugh James Nursing Care is one of the leading national experts in the recovery of wrongly paid care home fees; the specialist nursing care team have successfully recovered more than £100 million for their clients.

Age Cymru is the national charity for older people in Wales. It is the force combining Age Concern Cymru and Help the Aged in Wales. It works with local Age Cymru Partners across Wales to improve life for older people.
