Hyundai’s hot i30 for January sales

HYUNDAI has announced the pricing and specificat­ion of its first high-performanc­e model, the i30 N, which will go on sale in the UK in January.

The i30 N has been partly developed and tested at the Nurburgrin­g, home to Hyundai Motor’s European Test Centre.

It will be available in two specificat­ions, i30 N and i30 N Performanc­e.

The i30 N is priced from £24,995 and features standard equipment in line with the rest of the i30 range, including LED head and tail lights, smart adaptive speed control, keyless entry, eight-inch touchscree­n satellite navigation with Android Auto and Apple Car Play.

It also offers performanc­e equipment, including 18-inch alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres, electronic­ally controlled suspension, torque vectoring stem and steering wheel mounted drive mode buttons, where the driver can access and customise engine and suspension settings.

Priced from £27,995, the i30 N Performanc­e offers additional performanc­e specific equipment, including 19-inch alloys wheels with Pirelli P-Zero tyres, an additional 25bhp of power and electronic­al limited slip differenti­al.

Both models come with shared equipment including launch control to assist the driver with maximum accelerati­on from a standing start.

In outright performanc­e terms, both i30 N and i30 N Performanc­e are electronic­ally limited to 155 miles per hour, with the 0-62 sprint reached in 6.4 and 6.1 seconds respective­ly.

Significan­tly, 0 to 50 accelerati­on is very brisk at just 4.6 and 4.1 seconds with 18 seconds of overboost available on the engine.

Fuel economy is rated at for the i30 N is rated at 41.2mpg and 40.2 for the Performanc­e model with respective emissions of 159 and 163g/km.
