Young man killed in hit and run incident

A young man has died after a hit and run incident.

Police are hunting for the driver of a black BMW car after the pedestrian was knocked down and killed in Holywell.

A man ran from the scene of the crash at around 6.45pm on Saturday.

North Wales Police said: “After the collision the driver of the BMW car fled the scene and police are now conducting numerous enquiries to trace the driver.”

The crash happened on Well Hill, between the junction with Whitford Street and the Royal Oak.

The road was closed for several hours as police investigat­ed.

Sergeant Lee Evans, of the North Wales Roads Policing Unit, said: “There are numerous lines of inquiry being actively pursued and I would like to make a direct personal appeal to the driver to come forward.”

Superinten­dent Alex Goss said: “This is a tragic event for the family of the young man. I want to extend my sincere condolence­s to them.

“I would also urge anyone on Well Hill around the time of the incident to get in touch to assist us in piecing together the sequences of events.”

Police family liaison officers are with the family and the North Wales Deputy Coroner has been informed.

Police have appealed for witnesses or anybody with informatio­n to come forward.
