Police seize £50k worth of crack cocaine in city house raid

-

POLICE have seized crack cocaine with an estimated street value of more than £50,000 in a raid on a house in Swansea.

Two brothers have been arrested and charged with drug offences in connection with the swoop on a property in Plasmarl.

Officers say the seizure of the potent drug is unconnected with the on-going Operation Blue Thames, which is targeting criminal gangs from London trying to extend their operations into Swansea.

The crack cocaine raid happened at a terrace house in Trewyddfa Road on Sunday.

Two Swansea brothers, aged 39 and 45, have been charged with being concerned in the supply of drugs, and possessing criminal property – cash.

The pair were remanded into custody during a hearing at Swansea Magistrates’ Court.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: “Following the execution of a drugs warrant at a property in Swansea, officers seized a quantity of drugs including crack cocaine. Two males have been arrested and charged in connection with the seizure. Inquiries into the seizure are ongoing.”

Meanwhile, the ongoing Operation Blue Thames saw warrants executed at five addresses in Swansea yesterday – with seven people being arrested. The last two weeks have seen Blue Thames raids across the city and county, with officers knocking down doors in Manselton, Mount Pleasant, Clase, Sketty, Killay, Cwmbwrla, the Copper Quarter, Bonymaen, and in the city centre.
